How has one of the UK’s leading regional plant and tipper businesses celebrated its 40th year in business? With an absolutely top-spec, ruby red Thompsons tipper of course!
Hague Plant of Sheffield was set up way back in 1975, and in the intervening four decades this family – owned business has gone from strength to strength, continuously adding to its services and capabilities.
Today, the company’s tipper fleet is standardised on Thompsons all – steel Loadmaster Lite bodywork mounted on Scania chassis. With his bright red trucks already widely recognised everywhere over the roads of South Yorkshire, managing director William Hague thought the idea of doing a one – off special ‘celebratory’ tipper a local PR opportunity too good to miss.
“The colour for our 40th anniversary truck really chose itself” says William. “The deep ruby shade actually complements very well the standard red of our fleet. The ruby paint is also a deep metallic, and then finished off with a coat of hi – gloss laquer. The final result looks quite stunning, and has already attracted a great deal of comment.”
In addition to the top quality paintwork, the new tipper is also easily recognised by its aluminium wheels and chrome finish protectors to both the rear axle hubs and wing mirrors.
Underneath all the exterior brightwork though, ‘Ruby’ is still a Hague fleet – standard workhorse tipper built around Thompsons highly productive Loadmaster Lite bodywork.
“With a northern manufacturing base in Blackburn, Thompsons has been our preferred tipper bodybuilder for many years now” adds Mr Hague, also noting that “the latest Loadmaster Lite model is supremely versatile in being able to handle every type of payload from sand and aggregates through to muckaway, as well as all manner of materials from demolition. Built in Hardox it’s a strong, tough and highly durable body that’s designed to be essentially maintenance – free over its working life.”
With smooth single piece sides, the Loadmaster Lite not only projects signwriting and vehicle livery to its fullest potential but is also easy to maintain and keep clean. Of single – skinned steel construction and without front cornerposts, payload is very acceptable too. Completed to the full Thompsons N3G off – road Type Approval specification the latest Hague 410hp Euro 6 Scanias each have a ready to roll unladen weight just a whisker over 13 tonnes.
Whilst ‘Ruby’ is already hard at work on Hague’s tipping services, the company is also highly active in Plant Hire, Recycling and Reclamation, Aggregate Supply, Skip Hire and Waste Disposal.
