Thompsons to open a new factory in Scotland

Latest News | 25th Apr

Thompsons, the UK’s leading tipper bodybuilder, is pleased to announce that it is looking to open a factory in Scotland.

A number of sites are currently being considered, each being located in the Central Belt area between Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Once operational, the new facility will provide Scottish tipper operators with local production of bodywork, customer administration and aftermarket support.

Since 2001, Thompsons has developed into a truly national tipper bodybuilder, with the company currently having 3 factories in Croydon, another 3 in Blackburn as well as owning Charlton in Dover. With a new site in Scotland, the company’s UK coverage becomes complete.

Thompsons director Simon Shields comments:

“Moving into Scotland is the final stage of Thompsons’ market development. Over the last couple of years, we have sold more tipper bodies than ever north of the border, so we know how well our products are being received and hence what is the company’s real future potential in this market.

Having a Thompsons factory in Scotland will benefit all parties very considerably, not least in the areas of improving direct customer contact, reducing delivery times and providing the highest possible standard of after-sales support.”

To run the new facility, Thompsons is now looking to create new employment opportunities by recruiting locally – based Scottish staff, ideally with proven expertise in the areas of bodywork production, sales, service and parts support, office administration and management.

Interested parties are invited to contact Simon Shields by phone on 07779 590878 or email simonshields@thompsonsuk.com

Thompsons staff will be delighted to discuss everything about their move into Scotland on their stand at the TIP-Ex Show in Harrogate between 1st and 3rd June.
