Thompsons Group tops the lot at TIP-Ex 2016

Latest News | 6th Jun

With a total of 25 vehicles on display, the Thompsons Group easily out – shone all other tipper bodybuilders at last week’s TIP-Ex Show in Harrogate.

Visitors to the Show took every opportunity to get up close to many of the latest Thompsons Group products which included not just rigid tipper bodies but also demountable bodies for hookloaders and the company’s first ever production tipping trailer.

Particularly impressive was that the Thompsons products on display included not just bodies sold to end – user tipper operators, but also those as chosen by truck chassis manufacturers and other OEMs for use as their demonstrators, these including Iveco, MAN, Mercedes-Benz, Renault, Volvo, HYVA and Harsh.

On its inside stand, Thompsons chose to exhibit a curved floor Multimaster body to emphasize this product’s particular versatility in being able to easily handle the widest variety of different tipping applications. Also on the inside stand was one of Thompsons’ market – leading Loadmaster bodies, but now in a novel way – without a truck chassis – so that visitors could see how Thompsons bodies are taken from base metal to finish paint via the three key processes of shotblasting, adding a primer layer and then the final top coat.

Outside the halls, the latest 44 tonnes gcw Paymaster tipping trailer generated particular interest, especially as it was elegantly turned out in the white livery of the Allan Burton Memorial Foundation, the nominated charity for TIP-Ex 2016.

Supporting the charity, the ‘Peroni & a Putt’ golfing competition proved highly popular too, drawing in visitors – and their valued contributions – on all three days of the Show.

Thompsons’ sister company Charlton Bodies of Dover put in a particularly strong showing, with vehicles on display belonging to SRC Aggregates, Smiths of Bletchington, MJ Church, B&A Group, Lime Logistics, Bullimore Plant and William Kirby.

Last but definitely not least, Thompsons chose TIP-Ex ’16 to launch its new after – sales support programme, Thompsons TOTAL. Now, for the first time in the tipper industry, a bodybuilder is delivering a fully comprehensive package of parts and service activities to support tipper operators right across the UK.

Commenting on the Show, Thompsons director Simon Shields said

“TIP-Ex 2016 was our best show ever, with more exhibits, increased numbers of visitors and plenty of new things to talk about. To everyone, and especially our factory staff who prepared many of the exhibits and our customers whose vehicles they are, we say a big ‘Thank you!’
